The derby will be played at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, December 11.
It will be televised on ABC News 24.
Melbourne will face Adelaide in the final, with a quarter-final to be played in the same venue.
The game is a pre-season friendly between the clubs, which is set to kick off on Friday night.
Melbourne will be hoping to make history and become the first team to host an AFL grand final, having played two games at Adelaide Oval.
“The rivalry between Melbourne and Adelaide is unique in the game of footy,” Adelaide’s coach John Worsfold said in a statement.
The first meeting between the two sides took place at the MCG in 2001, when Melbourne beat Adelaide by a score of 30 points.
In 2003, the Melbourne Tigers won the series 3-1 in front of 27,000 fans, with Adelaide’s crowd topping the 29,000 mark.
