Spokane, Washington — A woman fell to her fatal fall from a building in Spokane, killing her 3-year-old son.
Spokane Police say the boy died Sunday night at a local hospital.
A neighbor told The Associated Press she heard the 3-month-old boy cry and then see the man on the ground.
“I heard the baby cry and I saw the man get shot,” said Sarah McBride, who lives on the third floor of the home where the death occurred.
McBride said the mother was in her living room with the 3 years old when the shooting happened.
She said the baby was on a swing and he was trying to catch the swings and jump on the fence.
Police say the man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.
The 3-week-old baby was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
The father of the toddler’s mother was also found with an injury to the face and a gunshot in the torso.
They are both in critical condition, police say.
Family members and neighbors say the family was out celebrating the 3rd birthday of the family’s third child.
Neighbor Joe Houghton said the father of three had a job that included construction and landscaping.
Houghton also said the boy had a long history of problems with the neighborhood.
